New Year Despacho

Let's intentionally call in all we wish to acquire in this new year with a despacho ceremony, traditionally an Andean ritual with roots in the indigenous cultures of Peru. It involves the creation of a ceremonial offering, known as a "despacho," which is a carefully arranged bundle of symbolic items. Participants, often led by a shaman or spiritual guide, come together to express gratitude, set intentions, and establish harmony with the natural and spiritual realms.

Making a Despacho is a living ceremony. It is similar to creating a mandala. Though everything that goes inside this bundle is a stand-in symbol or poetic metaphor, it is an act of reciprocity of energies that will render a result. Participants should bring items that will be weaved into the communal despacho.  We will create the bundle indoors first and then proceed outdoors for the fire ceremony portion of this offering. 

Despachos can be very powerful. The intent has to be clear and impeccable, meaning noble causes only. It is very moving and reassuring to know that we are not alone fighting our fights but can call upon the spirits of our elders, on the archetypes of the medicine wheel, on the energy of the sun, the moon, the rivers and our Mother, Pachamama herself to care for us, love us and help us heal.”
